The story of Magna Carta takes place on the continent of Efferia, which is populated by two races:
the humans and the Yason. The humans migrated from their country of origin, sailing across the sea to the land inhabited by the Yason. The humans called this land Efferia, and created four nations: Garute, Maracatte, Bayer, and Amabat. The Yason live in the territory known as Yason-Roven.

Led by Calintz, the Tears of Blood is a small band of highly skilled mercenaries are united in their fight against the Yason and the monsters that roam the land. Their advanced skills and abilities enable them to undertake the most dangerous of missions. While the Tears of Blood are well trusted by General Agreaian, they are feared by both civilians and Alliance alike.

Yason-Roven is the land of the Yason, the natives of the continent.

When first settled by humans, the barren land of Garute was not suitable for farming, which limited survival to hunting and pasturage. This primitive way of life eventually led to endless disputes and battles between the independent territories of the country.

After the battles subsided and the disputes were settled, the territories were unified into one nation. With years of fighting experience, the people were trained to be elite soldiers and mercenaries. As a result, Garute is the most famously known for its strong army and technologicallyadvanted weaponry. Many dojo training grounds can also be found throughout the country.

Maracatte is a country rich in natural resoruces; it produces many agricultural goods and precious metals. Ruled by aristocrats, the nation is a center of modernity filled with the latest fashion trends and most current equipment.

The nation of Bayer was created by mages.
